Riley's Hump

Riley's Hump is a geologic feature known as a "give-up" reef, a reef that has not grown fast enough to keep up with sea level rise. Riley's Hump is located in the northern portion of the Tortugas South Ecological Reserve and has been known to local fishermen for years as an important spawning area for a variety of reef fish species including various snappers and groupers.
