Coordination with the National Park Service

Planning in the Dry Tortugas National Park

The National Park Service, which is administered under the Department of the Interior, is beginning a planning process to address visitor use and commercial service issues at the Dry Tortugas National Park. The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and the National Park Service are holding joint scoping meetings so that members of the public interested in the Tortugas area will have an opportunity to comment on and receive information on both processes.

The Dry Tortugas National Park Visitor Use and Commercial Services planning process will focus on the increases in visitor numbers and will examine related management issues including visitor activities, commercial services, natural and cultural resources, and facilities. The National Park Service is committed to public involvement and participation in commenting on these issues, identifying other problems, and determining possible management responses. For more information on this process, visit the Dry Tortugas National Park Planning webpage.
